Host Families Wanted

Plymouth Argyle Football Club is looking for family homes that could provide safe and welcoming accommodation for our young players aged 16-18.

With the Academy never more at the forefront of the club's long-term planning, local families can play a huge part in developing more Argyle stars of the future. The club's commitment to our Academy, and the quality of players produced within our system, was on display to the world at the weekend, with four home-grown players starring in our narrow defeat to European champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, our under-18 side continued their pursuit of the EFL Youth Alliance South West league title with a thumping 4-0 win over Devon rivals Exeter City.

We are looking for candidates who can provide a 'home from home' for our young players in a high quality, safe environment, where our apprentices will be comfortable to live and study during their weekly training schedule and fixtures.

The role will require providing residential accommodation each week during the football season, alongside providing a nutritious evening meal, occasional lunches, and occasional laundry facilities.

We are keen to hear from anyone who feels they will be able to offer a welcoming home to our young players, particularly those living in areas close to the club’s Home Park stadium, in the Stoke, Peverell and Mutley areas of Plymouth. We would also consider some shorter term accommodation arrangements for trialists and to cover arranged holidays of host families.

Argyle is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and adults at risk and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. A happy player makes a good footballer.

Applicants will be required to undergo a full assessment with our club staff, including a home inspection and satisfactory enhanced DBS Criminal Record Check, before a decision can be made as to suitability.

A fee is payable to the host family for the duration of the placement.

If you think that you are someone who can work with the club to care for these players and provide the best environment for our young footballers of the future to thrive, then we would love to hear from you.

If you would like further information on this opportunity then please email kate.kirkham@pafc.co.uk, giving brief details of your circumstances and the area in which you live.
