Host Families wanted for upcoming Academy season

Host families for Argyle Academy at Celebration evening.

We are seeking local residents and families who are eager to contribute to the development of the club's Academy talent for the 2026/27 season and are interested in joining our exceptional team of host families.

As we welcome a new cohort of full-time scholars to their apprenticeship, the club is keen to hear from people who can provide a 'home from home' for our young players, giving them an environment that is high quality, safe, and comfortable to live in, as our scholars undertake their busy schedule and fixture programme.

We are particularly keen to hear from those who live in areas near to both the club's Home Park base and new Foulston Park training ground in Devonport, but will consider applications from all interested parties based in Plymouth.

This commitment may be on a full-time basis with our signed apprenticeships, or on a flexible part-time basis with our regular trialists.

You will be required to provide residential accommodation each week during the football season, alongside a nutritious evening meal, occasional lunches, and laundry facilities.

The club is committed to safeguarding the welfare of young people and adults at risk and expects all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo a full assessment with our club staff, including a home inspection and satisfactory and enhanced criminal record check, before a decision can be made of suitability.

A fee is payable to the host family for the duration of the placement.

If you think that you can work with the club to provide the best environment for our young footballers to thrive both on and off the pitch, or you would just like to find out more, then we would love to hear from you.

Please click here and complete the form in order to express an interest, so we can contact you with more information.

Argyle Under-18s defender Harry Shield said: “My host family has been so important for my family and me since starting the scholarship. Being away from home, it is so important to feel happy and comfortable, and I’ve really been made to feel part of the family and had great support, which enables me to produce my best on the pitch.”

Argyle forward Freddie Issaka said: "Having a host family was a really important part of my career. It was my first time being away from home, and they helped me feel so comfortable and settle in, which allowed me to focus on football. I also can confidently say that I made relationships that will last for a lifetime and still pop in on a regular basis now to see them."
