Hourihan named FAWNL Manager of the Month for February

Marie Hourihan has won the FA Women’s National League’s Manager of the Month award for February.

The Argyle Head Coach picked up the award over Loughborough Lightning’s Charles Baxter, Middlesbrough’s Joe Lillie, and Stoke City’s Sarah Richardson.

After starting the month with a 4-1 victory over Burnley in the FAWNL Cup semi-final, the Greens drew 0-0 with Gwalia United away from home but followed up with 2-0 wins over Exeter City at Home Park and AFC Wimbledon in the capital.

Upon winning the accolade, Hourihan said: “At the end of the day, I'm the face of a whole team, whether it's the players and the staff, but for me, to win this isn't an individual thing, it's a collective.

“A year ago, this team narrowly avoided relegation. Twelve months on, we're in a position where we're competing to be in the top two, and in the cup final. That turnaround doesn't happen from one person; that's down to the squad of players, the staff, and the whole football club.

“This is a celebration of what's been achieved from everybody across these last 12 months.”
