Argyle Women are full of confidence after picking up seven points in their opening four games of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division season.
Wins against Hashtag United and Billericay Town were split by a defeat to Watford away from home, and followed by a draw with Wimbledon last weekend, but the belief and hope to continue picking up points is spread amongst the squad.
Argyle face Lewes on Sunday afternoon (2pm), and the sides both share the same number of points after the opening section of the campaign, with Head Coach Marie Hourihan positive, despite knowing the challenges potentially at hand.
“Lewes have started the season really well,” Hourihan told Argyle TV. “They’re on seven points, like ourselves, and have excellent home form. They’ve also recruited some really good players, so I anticipate it will be a difficult game, but an exciting one overall.
“We’re going to have to try to enforce ourselves on the game. Their home pitch is a nice pitch, so we've got to use that to our advantage. However, they do have a lot of confidence playing at home, so we've got to be ready for that. Off the back of Sunday, we know that when we create those moments, we've got to be more clinical. That's the takeaway, and we need to be that on Sunday.
“It’s going to be a challenging game – very similar to Watford. We've asserted ourselves at home, but now we need to do the same when we go away. This is our second league away game. We've not won yet, so that's something we need to right, but that's only going to happen if we're fully prepared and start the game well. We need to respect the opponent, but we need to impose ourselves and be more ruthless after Sunday.
“There's definitely been a reaction in training. We took the positives from the game, but the scoreline is the most important one. We’ve taken this opportunity to refine the details, as we didn’t execute those pivotal moments. We need to be clinical and ruthless.”
