Argyle Women are quickly back in action on Sunday afternoon, moving on from their Devon Derby draw against Exeter City with a home game against Gwalia United.
Argyle sit fourth in the table, compared to the Welsh side in sixth place, following their 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town on Thursday night.
Last season, the game at Home Park between Argyle and Gwalia ended 4-3 in November, with Argyle coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the tie, thanks to a hat-trick from Ellie Sara and a goal from Charlotte Whitmore. On the final afternoon of the season, Argyle won in South Wales to ensure survival in the league.
Head Coach Marie Hourihan and forward Tianna Tesiar, who previously played for the Welsh team as a loanee, are both excited for the tie at Home Park this weekend.
Hourihan said: “It is tough with the quick turnaround from our midweek game against Exeter City, as we don't have full-time players, so we’re trying to make sure that we recover them properly.
“We'll get back in for training on Friday, where we'll review the game against Exeter. Then, our full attention will turn to a preview for Gwalia. It's not ideal having three games in eight days, but everyone in the league was playing a midweek tie this week, so it's equal. We’re all having to face that three-game week.
“We just have to utilise our time effectively together to make sure that we're prepped and ready to go on Sunday, and I’m sure that will be the case.”
Teisar, who made her Wales senior debut with two games earlier in the week, said: “It’s been a very busy week for me, but a very positive week. People who know me know how much my country means to me, so to play for Wales means the world to me, even if it has been hectic.
“It’s a quick turnaround from Wednesday night, but we'll go straight back into training, review the Exeter game, and get it done and dusted, and then just look forward to the weekend, and hopefully pick up the three points.”
