Argyle Under-18s return to EFL Youth Alliance League action today when they travel to face Swindon Town.

The Young Pilgrims head into the fixture top of the league having won all seven of their matches so far, while the Robins remain winless.

Argyle will be looking to maintain their 100% record, against a Swindon side who Jamie Lowry believes have been better than their results suggest.

Lowry said: “They pass the ball really well. They’re one of the nicest footballing teams that we will come across this season.

”It will be very important that our out-of-possession play is bang on and that we get our structure and shape correct.”

Argyle have scored an impressive 29 goals in their opening seven league games so far and will be aiming to continue their strong attacking start.

“At the moment, we are firing in terms of scoring goals and creating opportunities,” Lowry said. “We will look to put our stamp on the game and be as clinical as we have been all season in and around the box against Swindon.

”But again, most of our talk this week has been about making sure our play without the ball is right and that we’re structured, focused and don’t give much away.”

Friday’s match against Swindon comes in the middle of a busy October, with members of the squad having the opportunity to experience up to three different levels of football across the week.

Jared Rendle and Seb Campbell featured for Argyle’s first team against Newport County on Tuesday and could return to under-18s action on Friday. Lowry’s side will then have the opportunity to feature in Monday’s Premier League Cup fixture against AFC Bournemouth Under-21s.

Argyle’s Head Coach believes the exposure to different challenges is an important part of his players’ learning journey.

Lowry said: “The boys have a good opportunity to be involved in games against three different levels of opposition. It’s all a big part of their development to play against these different teams with different styles and hopefully it can only enhance their own games.”

Despite the perfect start so far, Lowry is also conscious that Argyle must maintain their standards and avoid allowing their impressive results to fuel complacency.

“The biggest thing for us at the minute is making sure that our basics, like outworking the opposition, are a must-have going into every match,” he said.

“We’ve got that good sort of pressure on us now because there are teams looking at us thinking that they want to be the ones to break our winning record.”

The Young Pilgrims will now look to make it eight wins from eight and remain at the top of the Youth Alliance League.
