Luke Jephcott has signed on loan for Swindon Town.

The Argyle forward, 22, has joined The Robins, currently 17th in Sky Bet League Two, on a season-long deal.

Swindon have started with four draws from their opening six games, as well as one win and one defeat. They are managed by Scott Lindsay, who was previously the assistant manager to Ben Garner, who left for Charlton Athletic in the summer. Swindon finished sixth last season in League Two, losing in the play-off semi-final.

Jephcott has made 118 appearances for Argyle. He played a handful of times in 2018/19, mostly from the bench, then went on loan to Truro City the following season.

His break came in January 2020 when, recalled from his loan, Luke was thrust straight into the Argyle first team, and scored twice in a 3-1 win over Scunthorpe United. A week later, Luke scored another brace in a win over Carlisle, and would finish the season on seven goals from 14 games.

Since then, he has been a regular part of first-team affairs, and has scored 37 goals for Argyle. Two of those came against Swindon in November 2020, when The Pilgrims won 4-2 at Home Park.

This season, Luke has played three times, starting the Carabao Cup tie against Peterborough United, and coming off the bench twice in league games.

This concludes a Transfer Window in which manager Steven Schumacher has bolstered his squad in all areas.

Matt Butcher and Mickel Miller have signed on permanent deals, with Finn Azaz, Bali Mumba, Morgan Whittaker, Nigel Lonwijk and, on deadline day, Sam Cosgrove all joining on season-long loans.

With competition for places all over the squad, coupled with a strong to start to the Sky Bet League One season, Schumacher will be delighted with how the window has worked out.
