Joe Edwards has signed a new, one-year contract to remain a Pilgrim for an eighth season.
The Argyle skipper, 35, is a beloved figure among the Green Army, who spent the concluding weeks of the season serenading him with chants of "One more year, one more year..." - now they have joy in their heart, as they have their wish.
Joe played 41 times in 2025/26, demonstrating passion, dedication and ability that shows no signs of slowing down. He has now played 282 times for the Pilgrims, since arriving in the summer of 2019.
Joe has experienced two Argyle promotions, and one relegation. He has played under six permanent managers, and has scored 24 goals, including goals on the final day of the season in 2022/23 against Port Vale, to help clinch the Sky Bet League One title, and in 2023/24, against Hull City, to secure Argyle's spot in the second tier.
Like few others in recent history, Joe has embraced our club, shares in our highs and our lows. There is no better man to lead us, and we are delighted he is staying.
Argyle Head Coach, Tom Cleverley, is delighted to see his captain sign for a further year, commenting: "One of my main priorities for this summer was ensuring Joe was with us for another season.
"He is our captain, a leader and an exceptional influence both on and off the pitch. He is still fitter than ever and was an important part of the squad throughout last season, continuing to influence proceedings.
"Joe's signing is an important first step this summer as we look to form a squad to build on our strong second half of last season."
Argyle Director of Football, Derek Adams, added: "Joe remains an important member of the squad and showed last season the continued influence he can have on the side.
"Coming into an eighth season with a football club is no mean feat, and shows his longevity but also his affinity for Argyle.
"He is a popular member of the squad, both with his teammates and the Green Army and we are all delighted he will be with us for another season."
Keep an eye on Argyle TV, where we will have several features with Joe coming up in the next few weeks.
