Joe Ralls signs for Argyle

Joe Ralls

Argyle have signed experienced central midfielder Joe Ralls on a short-term contract, initially until January.

Ralls, 32, departed Cardiff City in the summer, after making 384 appearances and scoring 32 goals in 14 years with the club.

Captaining the Bluebirds for several years, he also had a loan spell with Yeovil Town in 2013, and now joins Argyle looking to add his Football League experience to Tom Cleverley’s side.

Head Coach Cleverley is delighted to add someone of Ralls’ talent to his squad, commenting: “Joe has extensive experience at Championship level and will bring that experience and leadership qualities to our young squad.

“Alongside that, he is an exceptional footballer who will strengthen our midfield options and add versatility across a number of positions.

“I am really pleased to bring Joe to Argyle and look forward to seeing him in action soon.”

Argyle Head of Football Operations, David Fox, added: “It is clear we are in a position right now we don’t want to be, and bringing in someone of Joe’s calibre and experience was a no brainer.

“We haven’t had the competition for places we need and Joe will add to our options in the middle of the pitch.

“He has experience at a higher level and although he will need a little time to get to full match fitness, he has kept himself in good shape since he left Cardiff so will be ready to appear soon.

“We look forward to seeing him in an Argyle shirt.”

Ralls will wear the number 32 shirt, with the contract subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
