Britain's Ocean City Running Festival

Join the Green Army Wave at Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival

The Green Army are set to take over the streets of Plymouth next year as Argyle fans unite for Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival, taking place on Sunday, 11 May.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community involvement and promoting healthy lifestyles, Plymouth Argyle and Argyle Community Trust are proud to announce the launch of the Green Army Wave at this year's event.

Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival has always been a highlight of Plymouth’s event calendar, and this year the Argyle community can join forces to make a huge impact.

The Green Army Wave will offer Argyle supporters a chance to participate, represent the club, raise money for Project 35, in partnership with Ginsters and show the power of our community, both on and off the field.

And they’ll be guided every step of the way as we look to create Argyle’s biggest ever team.

What is the Green Army Wave?
The Green Army Wave will be a dedicated group of Plymouth Argyle supporters running, jogging or walking together in the 5k, 10k or half marathon events. Whether you're a seasoned runner or looking for your first challenge, this wave is designed for all abilities, with the focus being on mental and physical wellbeing, team spirit, community, and representing Argyle.

Participants in the Green Army Wave will receive exclusive Argyle-themed running shirts, dedicated Argyle training plans developed by Argyle Community Trust and ongoing support with those who choose to fundraise.

On event day the Green Army Wave will form a sea of green as they start together, with the Argyle logo on their run number and club legends setting them on their way.

Jamie Yabsley, Head of Marketing & Communications for Plymouth Argyle, said: “This event is a fantastic way to bring everyone together in support of a healthy and active lifestyle; we’re thrilled to be working with the team at Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival to showcase the strength of our community both on and off the pitch.”

Suzi Cumberland, Director of Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival said: “This is a really exciting and groundbreaking initiative, with the team at Argyle continuing to support physical and mental wellbeing for the Green Army. We look forward to help make it a really special day.”

Mark Lovell, Argyle Community Trust Chief Executive Officer said: “At the Trust, we’re committed to promoting health and wellbeing across our community. The Green Army Wave embodies our shared goal of making sport accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability. It’s going to be amazing to see so many supporters coming together to take part in this event.”
