Josh Widdicombe has been named new Argyle Archive Ambassador.
When the Argyle Archive was formed in 2016, it was proud to announce that long-serving former club secretary, Graham Little, and former Argyle correspondent for the Sunday Independent, Harley Lawer, would become ambassadors.
Sadly, Graham passed away in November 2021, and the trustees of the Archive now feel the time is right to appoint a new ambassador.
Lifelong Argyle fan, comedian, and presenter Widdicombe is a perfect fit, and the Archive were delighted when he said he’d be pleased and honoured to become an ambassador.
The 43-year-old recently interviewed former Argyle players at an event for the Green Taverners, and the Archive Chairman Bob Wright took the opportunity to announce the appointment on the night and present Widdicombe with an ambassadorial certificate.
Some fans might recall that the comedian represented Argyle at Wembley, when he walked out with the Papa Johns Trophy at the final against Bolton in April 2023.
Widdicombe said of his appointment: “This is an absolute honour. Following a football club is not just about the present it is the story of that club, a history of a place through time. As a fan of Plymouth Argyle and the past, the Argyle Archive is something I hold dear."
