Argyle have completed the signing of central defender Katie Wilson.

The 22-year-old signs at Home Park, having most recently played for Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, in the NCAA Division 2 level.

Across her four years in the United States of America, Wilson featured 77 times for the Flames, scoring one goal and adding seven assists from the backline, and was named to the D2CCA South Region First Team and First Team All-Gulf South Conference in her final season.

Prior to her time in the States, she began her career in the north of England for Middlesbrough FC, working her way through the system to the first-team.

Upon confirming the signing of Wilson, Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: “We’re delighted to secure the signing of Katie. This is one that’s been brewing for a while now, but her involvement throughout the whole of pre-season until now proves exactly why she’ll be a key part of our team this year.

“She’s a confident ball-playing defender who adds great quality to our left side, and I’m sure will succeed this season.”

Christian Kent, Executive Lead for Women’s Football at Argyle, said: “Katie is going to be a great addition to our squad here at Home Park, and we’re extremely happy to get the signing completed.

“She’s embedded herself perfectly into the squad over pre-season and I’m sure will continue to do so as we go on over the year.”
