Keep Manadon Moving event to take place at Home Park

Keep Manadon Moving

Plymouth City Council will be hosting an event at Home Park Stadium, to give fans and members of the public the opportunity to learn more about the Keep Manadon Moving project.

The event will take place in The View from 1.30pm to 3pm on Thursday, 19 June. It is open to all and provides a chance to view the proposals, ask questions, and provide feedback to the project team.

About The Project
Manadon Interchange is one of Plymouth’s busiest and most important junctions, connecting the A38 Devon Expressway with the A386 Tavistock Road – a critical route for people travelling to and from Cornwall, Devon, and beyond.

But right now, it’s not working as well as it should:

• Over 60,000 journeys pass through the interchange each day

• Journeys from the city centre to Derriford can take up to 19 minutes longer than necessary due to congestion

• The current layout was designed for lower traffic volumes and is struggling to keep up

• By 2040, queues are expected to back onto the A38 daily, creating safety risks

The current congestion can affect journeys to and from Home Park for both home and away supporters, particularly during busy periods. To address these issues, Plymouth City Council is consulting on proposals to upgrade the interchange. The aim is to improve traffic flow, road safety, and provide better infrastructure for public transport, walking, and cycling.

What’s being proposed:

• Widened A38 slip roads and additional lanes on Tavistock Road

• New traffic signals and road layouts to improve flow and safety

• A new bus priority lane on Mannamead Road

• Improved pedestrian crossings, segregated cycle paths, and a new fully accessible bridge over the A386

• Environmental improvements, including a 3-to-1 tree replacement programme and investment in new green spaces

• Safety improvements at one of the South West’s highest accident junctions

Plymouth City Council encourage fans to come along to the event, view the proposals, and speak to the project team to learn more and share your views.
