The Game
Leeds United v Argyle. Elland Road. Saturday, 27 January. 3pm. Emirates FA Cup.

The Opposition
Leeds beat Peterborough United 3-0, away from home, in the third round of the cup to get to this stage.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Leeds are fourth, with 54 points from 28 games. Following a period of just one win in five games, Leeds have won their last four in all competitions, winning three of those games 3-0, and beating Preston North End 2-1 last weekend.

The Gaffer
Daniel Farke began his managerial career at SV Lippstadt, a club he played for during his playing career. He lifted Lippstadt from the sixth tier of German football to the fourth, and eventually took the job as the manager of Borussia Dortmund's second team.

Daniel Farke

In 2017, he joined Norwich City as manager, in the Championship, and won the second-tier title in his second season at Carrow Road. They were relegated straight away, but the following season topped the Championship once again. However, after a poor start, Farke was dismissed.

After leaving Norwich, he signed a deal to take over at Krasnodar in Russia, but left before a game was played, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last season, with Borussia Monchengladbach, Farke led the side to a mid-table finish, and was sacked in the summer.

Earlier this season
Argyle played Leeds at Elland Road in November, losing the game 2-1. Daniel James and Joel Piroe scored before the half-hour mark, with Ben Waine getting one back for Argyle with six minutes to go.

The Squad
Joel Piroe signed for Leeds in the early days of the this season, moving from Swansea City for a reported £10m. The 24-year-old Dutchman, who has played for the Netherlands up to under-20 level, has 10 goals this season, including the late winner from the penalty spot in the recent win over Preston.

Daniel James (below), who scored the first goal against Argyle earlier in the season, also has ten goals to his name this campaign, including three in his last four games. James, who has 49 caps for Wales, made his professional debut for Swansea, and made such an impact that he moved to Manchester United in 2019 for a reported £15m. He moved to Leeds in 2021, and although he had a loan spell with Fulham last season, has been an integral part of the Leeds team this time round.

Another Leeds player with Wales caps - 49 of them - is Ethan Ampadu. The son of former Exeter City and Argyle player Kwame Ampadu, Ethan came through the ranks at Exeter, and became their youngest ever player. Aged 16, Ampadu moved to Chelsea, although he never truly broke into the side at Stamford Bridge. An eclectic run of loans out, to Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia, followed, before he moved to Leeds in the summer.
