Looking ahead to Lincoln

Argyle travel to the LNER Stadium on Saturday to take on Lincoln City in Sky Bet League One, on a nine-match unbeaten league run.

Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra means that the Greens have picked up 19 points from the opening ten games of the 21/22 campaign.

Ryan Hardie netted for the seventh time in Sky Bet League One, as for the second game in a row the Pilgrims had to come from behind.

The Greens’ away form has been impressive so far this season, two wins against Shrewsbury Town and AFC Wimbledon and a draw at Portsmouth means that Argyle have already picked up seven points on the road.

An impressive 4-0 win over Sky Bet Championship side Peterborough United in the first round of the Carabao Cup also underlines the Argyle's credentials on the road and manager Ryan Lowe is hoping this will continue.

He said, “When you’re in good form you want another game to come, we’ve been excellent of late and want to continue that.

“They’ve got a good manager and were in the play-off final last year so we not going to underestimate them.”

If selected, captain Joe Edwards will make his 100th appearance for Argyle and Lowe has praised his skipper.

He said, “He’s been fantastic since the day he came in and long may that continue. We want him to make more games and score more goals.

“He’s captain of the football club, he’s got a good character and leads the group very well. He has dialogue with us as the coaching staff and players very well.”

Lincoln have had an inconsistent start to their season, winning three and losing five of their opening ten games.

Two of those wins have come in their last five matches. They beat Cambridge United 5-1 at the start of September and then got a 2-1 win over Burton Albion last weekend.

They have one win at home so far, which came in their first home match of the season.

Losses to Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town and then a draw with Rotherham United means they have picked up four points from their five home games.

The sides met three times last season with Argyle winning two and Lincoln the other.

A 2-1 win for the Imps in the league was followed up by a 2-0 success for Argyle in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Then, towards the latter stages of the season, Joe Edwards scored the decisive goal in a thrilling 4-3 win for Argyle at Home Park.
