Argyle Under-18s' start to the season was far from what Head Coach Jamie Lowry wanted but, after consecutive wins, the Greens' confidence and belief is back on show.
A terrific three-goal turnaround at Millennium Fields against MK Dons followed a clean sheet victory over Barnet the week prior, and now it could turn into three wins from three when facing Northampton on Saturday.
Lowry was delighted with his side’s bounce-back mindset and hopes it can continue into the home tie against the Cobblers.
“It was a really pleasing result,” Lowry told Argyle TV, speaking of the win against MK Dons. “The biggest thing, for me, is coming back from being two goals down. I don't think we deserved to be two goals down, but the thing we keep talking about is building on progressions and our mentality to come back to win games from being behind. We haven't done that this season, so for us in terms of our togetherness and group bonding, that was really positive.
“You could see how much the first-team result against Luton galvanised the lads, and it has done this week as well, and it's very similar to us. There's been extra buzz around it. Now we've ticked that box where if we do go behind, it doesn't matter. We know that we can still come back and have a ‘never say never’ attitude.
“We spoke about finding our rhythm and our identity, and I feel like we're starting to find that now. The basics are a bit more consistent throughout the team. Winning games in football is a habit, so it's essential that we build on it. Another home game against Northampton will be tricky, but we pride ourselves in our home form.
“This week's training has been really good and there’s lots of buzz amongst the players. I think last season we only lost one home game in the league. We know what it's like to travel and have teams travel down to us. Sometimes they’re in a half-beaten mindset traveling all the way down, the early starts, and all those little things like that.
“It's important that we use that to our advantage. We know how to play the pitch and have good performances. Our style's been a lot better than it was at the start of the season. It’s really important to keep building on what we've got set in stone at the moment.”
