Argyle’s latest acquisition is midfielder Luke Cundle.

Cundle, 21, has joined the Pilgrims on a season-long from Wolverhampton Wanderers, having spent a season with Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship last term.

Luke will be available to play in Tuesday's night game against Leyton Orient.

Born in Warrington, attacking midfielder Cundle came through the ranks at Molineux, and made his first-team debut aged just 17, in a Carabao Cup tie against Reading.

Having played seven times for Wolverhampton’s Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy, and having made a couple more late substitute appearances in cup competitions, he made his Premier League debut as a replacement for Daniel Podence as Wolves won 3-1 at home to Southampton in January 2022.

A month later, he was given a start and played 84 minutes as Wolves won 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur, and played the full game as Wolves lost at Newcastle United in April that year.

Having made seven appearances for Wanderers’ first team in all, he headed out on loan for the 2022/23 season, joining Swansea towards the end of the window. Luke played 34 times for the Swans, scoring three goals, including in the final two games of the season.

Argyle manager Steven Schumacher said: “I’m delighted to bring Luke on board here at Home Park.

“He is a technically very gifted player, who can play in a variety of midfield positions, adding to our strength in that department.

“He has huge potential, and importantly he has a full season of Championship experience under his belt with Swansea last season. I’m very pleased he has agreed to join us.”

Director of Football Neil Dewsnip added: “Luke looked at home last season while on loan at Swansea City, and I am sure he will perfectly fit the style that we are trying to play at Argyle.

“He once again fits the profile of the type of player we have been successful in recruiting on loan. He comes from a very good Premier League Academy; he has experience under his belt; and he is a very talented young footballer.”

Luke’s home shirt will be sponsored by Senior Greens. He will wear the number 28.

The deal is subject to EFL approval.
