Matchday special bus services to return on trial

Fixture link

Our five new dedicated football special bus services will run again this Saturday, from various areas of the city directly to Home Park, returning again after the game.

The services will initially be run on a trial basis to assess their viability, and are subject to change, but beginning this service again aligns with our ambitions to provide an outstanding fan experience for the Green Army. We have worked with key stakeholders in the city to provide as many transport options as we can, to make supporters’ journeys as straightforward as possible.

In line with the club’s environmental ambitions and efforts to reduce the collective carbon footprint of supporters travelling to Home Park on match days, we endeavour to make travel as sustainable as we can.

We have received many requests from supporters to launch dedicated football services, and recently ran a supporter survey to consult fans and assess potential viability of such services. The results showed clear supporter interest, and highlighted key areas in the city with high levels of demand. In line with this, five routes were devised to provide as much coverage across the city and surrounding areas as possible.

Introducing these new services showcases a demonstrable commitment to the club’s environmental objectives and ambitions to reduce the overall collective carbon footprint of supporters travelling to Home Park on match days, and will also serve to reduce traffic congestion and demand for parking at the ground and in nearby residential streets.

The five services will be: Coypool Park and Ride, The George Park and Ride, Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash.

The Coypool and George services will run two trips to Home Park pre-match, while the Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash services will run once.

Timetables are available here.

The services will drop supporters off pre-match at the bus stops on Outland Road. Post-match, the buses will be waiting on Jack Leslie Way. Supporters should look out for our Here to Help team in purple jackets, who will be stationed along Jack Leslie Way after the game, for assistance if required.

Prices are as follows: £5 per person for a return for the Coypool and George services and £6 per person return for the Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash services.

Single fares are also available (subject to availability ) and can be purchased on the buses on the day only. Single fares cannot be purchased in advance or through the CItybus app. Please note that priority will be given to those who have purchased a return ticket and should the bus have reached capacity through advance sales of return tickets, no single tickets will be available.

As this is a dedicated football service, supporters should note that bus passes and other concessions will not apply and a ticket will need to be purchased in order to travel.

Tickets are available to purchase in advance through Citybus directly, through their app. Tickets can also be purchased on the bus on the day, but purchasing in advance is highly recommended as the services are likely to be extremely popular and we cannot guarantee there will be availability remaining on the buses on the day.

Tickets can be purchased on a match-by-match basis or via a season long pass, priced at £138 per person for the full season for the Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash routes and £115 for the Coypool and George services.

Our friends at PASOTI have become official football bus sponsors and we thank them for the contribution.
