Argyle return to Home Park this Sunday when they host AFC Bournemouth in the FA Women’s National League South at 2pm.

The Pilgrims will be looking to respond following last weekend’s defeat away to Cheltenham Town, as they begin a busy run of home fixtures across three different competitions.

Argyle face Bournemouth before hosting Millwall Lionesses in the Women’s FA Cup and Arsenal in the FAWNL Plate, with a midweek trip to Devon rivals Exeter City also on the schedule.

Head Coach Matt Green expects a difficult test against a Bournemouth side he believes will be in contention towards the end of the campaign, despite their recent results.

“They’re another top team, and one that we expect to be challenging for promotion,” Green said. “I think they’ve had an indifferent start to the season having lost last week to Fulham and the week before to oxford, but let’s not take anything away from them.

”They’re a quality footballing side with a lot of good players and a good manager as well, so we will go into the game as underdogs, but we will give it a good shot again and see what we can do.

“It’s another good challenge for our young group of players.”

Sunday’s fixture will also bring some former Pilgrims back to Home Park, with Ella Stowell, Caitlin Smith and Tamara Wilcock having represented Argyle last season before joining the Cherries, while Georgia Wilson left the club in July 2025.

Argyle will be keen to put last weekend’s performance behind them after falling short of the level they have shown in recent weeks. Green was frustrated with the display in Gloucestershire, although he acknowledged that decisions during the game had gone against his side.

He said: “I’m still disappointed with the result. I don’t think we played to the potential that we have shown in previous games. We just didn’t seem to have that spark that we have had recently.

”Some decisions obviously didn’t go our way in the game, but like I said straight after the match, it was the same for both sides.

“We just didn’t play to the standards that we thought we would do, and it was a bit disappointing.”

Argyle will be boosted this weekend with Sienna Gilbert returning after missing the Cheltenham game through illness, and Cadi Rodgers available again following international duty with Wales.

Green is hoping for strong support from the fans as his side prepare for a crucial stretch of fixtures at Home Park.

He said: “The Green Army have supported us fantastically well this season. They have got right behind us as a group of players and as staff as well.

“They have been fantastic, and it will be great to get the numbers in for Bournemouth this Sunday, then Millwall in the FA Cup and then Arsenal the week after in the Plate.

”It’s a busy time, and in between all that we have a big game away to Exeter – so there is lots of football to be played.

“We will need all the support we can get in all of those games, and it will be great to see even more of the Green Army turn up and support the girls.”
