Argyle’s first game of the 2026/27 pre-season campaign saw the Greens win 4-1 over fellow Plymothians, Plymouth Parkway.
Bim Pepple and Michael Baidoo scored in the first half, either side of a Will Sullivan strike for the hosts, with Owen Oseni scoring twice in the second period to give Argyle a comfortable victory.
Fans had waited 70 days since Argyle played Northampton Town in their last game of any nature, and it would only take another 90 seconds before they saw a goal.
Argyle started in clinical fashion, with Pepple pouncing onto a loose ball and striking a low finish into the net.
The Greens, in blue, dominated the game, as one might expect, but did not find it straightforward to add to their tally.
And, for tally, read Tolly. Lorent Tolaj looked the most likely, with three chances coming in the first 20 minutes. A flick at the near post from a corner was a tricky one, that glided wide, but he was very close from one he caught on the rise after one bounce in the area, sending it only just over the bar, and he then hit the side netting at the second attempt.
Bradley Ibrahim struck the crossbar in all this, and it seemed an inevitably that Argyle would start causing more work for the scorers, but it was the home side who notched next.
Argyle dithered a couple of times at the back and, from the second loose ball, Will Sullivan latched onto a ball and struck home sweetly from 20 yards.
Buoyed by the equaliser, Parkway played with renewed confidence, and forward Rocky Neal nearly scored a gem of a goal, running onto a long ball, riding a Pleguezuelo challenge, and then delicate lobbing Jimmy Storer, only to see the ball strike the crossbar.
Argyle did get back in front before the break, though. Xavier Amaechi made a determined run down the right flank and, having got to the bye-line, played a cutback into space, where Baidoo rattled home a smart finish.
Argyle made nine changes at half-time, with Joe Mwaro the only outfield player staying on, and switching from left-back to right-back.
And, in another change to the first half, Argyle scored even more quickly. This time, it took just 30 seconds before Owen Oseni got in behind Parkway, and clipped in in front of the happiest section of fans, partly because of the proliferation of Argyle shirts, and partly because they were the few hundred who had found shade.
Parkway continued to have chances; Will Sullivan had a really good opportunity, only taken away by a superb block by first-year apprentice Jovan Wamani, playing at left-back, although the same player did pick up a booking later on for a foul near the edge of the area, although Parkway made nothing of the free-kick.
It was mostly Argyle on the front foot, but Parkway had a threat on the break, with Neal shooting wide, and Sam Hayman making an excellent block to deny substitute Hayden Turner.
Oseni got his second with five minutes to go, getting a small but significant touch to prod home following an excellent run and cross from Tegan Finn.
The Pilgrims are next in action next Saturday, away at Bath City.
