Argyle finished pre-season undefeated after a brace from Brendan Wiredu and two wonder strikes from James Sharpe and Caleb Roberts respectively, clinched a 4-1 victory.
The Greens fell behind after failing to deal with a corner, and Jacob Bowker finished beyond Jimmy Storer to give the hosts the lead.
Argyle responded with Wiredu flicking a corner home to see Cleverley’s team level at the interval.
Sharpe then put Argyle ahead with a stunning strike from the edge of the box before Wiredu found the bottom corner again with his second header and Roberts equalled Sharpe’s strike finding the same stanchion from 30-yards.
The first half started evenly but the opening chance of the game was created by Bradley Ibrahim who found space on the left, shimmied and crossed for Wiredu but his shot flew well over the crossbar.
Freddie Issaka was the next to find joy in a wide area, but he saw his cross cleared. It fell only as far as Mwaro who crossed, Tavistock cleared but it fell to Wiredu who was fouled in a dangerous position on the edge of the box. Jared Rendle had the honours for the free kick but fired well over.
The visitors then took the lead. Reece Shanley tried his luck from range after a foul. Storer made a brilliant save to tip it over, but from the resulting corner, Argyle failed to clear and Bowker tapped into the roof of the net at the back post.
Argyle looked for an immediate response with Seb Campbell finding space and seeing a shot deflect onto the side netting.
Back-to-back corners followed with Holman tipping the first over his own bar and then Wiredu seeing a header flick wide. From the third corner, Campbell fired at goal, but it hit Pleguezuelo when it was destined for the bottom corner.
The Greens levelled with Ibrahim curling in a corner and Wiredu steering it into the far corner.
Roberts then aimed to double the lead, striking from range, but he dragged it wide of the target. Ibrahim then lifted the ball over the top of the Lambs defence for Issaka, but his volley was saved by Dan Holman.
Moments later, a loss Tavistock pass is collected by Ibrahim, but he delayed on the ball and saw his shot blocked. It fell to Wiredu though who fired at goal from range, but Holman was equal to it and palms clear.
Issaka continued to find joy on the wing and beat three men on the left and driving into the penalty area, but his shot struck the crossbar and went clear.
The second half started slowly but Issaka burst into life on the right again, crossing low for Campbell but he couldn’t make full contact with the ball, and it drifted out of play for a throw.
Argyle then took the lead through a Sharpe strike. He collected a clearance on the edge of the box, controlled and fired into the top corner with the ball even staying in the stanchion.
Jack Crago almost brought the hosts level, flicking a header goalwards but Storer made a brilliant diving save to his left.
Wiredu then scored his second of the game, and Argyle’s third following brilliant interplay between Sharpe and Issaka. Sharpe initially stretched the play with a cross field ball to Issaka, he returned it to Sharpe at the back post and it dropped for Wiredu to head home.
Roberts then made sure of the win with an impressive strike from 30 yards out that find the same stanchion that Sharpe found.
That was that, and attention now turns to the Devon Derby on Monday night.
