The Women’s Vitality FA Cup comes to Haye Road this weekend as Argyle take on Cheltenham Town.

Argyle come into this fixture from a break in fixtures following their previous games postponement in the FAWNL League Cup against London Seaward away from home. The unforeseen break was not ideal, hut manager Ryan Perks is again looking to use this game as a jumping-off point.

“We wanted to start to build positive momentum,” said Perks. “Unfortunately, the game being postponed has made that a bit difficult. We were looking forward to the trip, we had a full squad and wanted to come away with a result that not only advances us into the next round but gives us even more confidence coming into the FA Cup match.

“The players are fresher, and it has given us a platform to work on a few extra things coming into this match, so there are some positives, but personally I would’ve preferred the match.”

Argyle’s previous season saw them reach the fourth round of the FA Cup. Matches against St Austell and Keynsham Town were the highlights of that run, before the Greens were beaten by Charlton Athletic in the dying stages the round four tie.

The Greens played their opening game of the season against Cheltenham, and although leading at the break, ended up losing 3-1 by full time.

“They’ve had a good start to the season,” said Perks, of Cheltenham. “We know it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re quite optimistic going into this one. Hopefully we can get the result and advance into the next round.”

The game will be held at Haye Road, hoem of Elburton Villa. Kick-off is at 2pm, tickets cost £5 for adults while U3s have free entry. If you cannot make it to the game, then updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
