Argyle Women's penultimate home fixture of the season is Sunday, as the Greens take on Hashtag United at The Mill in Torpoint.

Ryan Perks' team come into this fixture off the back of a frustrating defeat away from home that saw Argyle almost rescue a point against Cardiff City. Ellie Sara equalised at the start of injury time, only for Cardiff to scramble home a winner three minutes later.

“Performance-wise, I thought we deserved a point last weekend,” said Perks. “It was a very scrappy game from both sides which, as we expected, suited Cardiff more than it did us. We’ve battled hard into the dying embers of the game and managed to earn ourselves a crucial goal in injury time but have been undone minutes later right before the game ended.

“If we had done better with and without the ball across the 90 minutes, I think we come away with a positive result. This weekend is about rectifying that and going back to the performance levels we know we’re capable of against Hashtag, at Torpoint.”

Perks’ side will not only be eager to emulate their previous performance levels at The Mill, which saw the Greens go toe-to-toe with title contenders Portsmouth despite falling to defeat, but also their previous performance against Hashtag. The Greens battled hard for 90 minutes at Parkside earlier in the season and put the Tags under considerable pressure in the last 20 minutes but were beaten by an early goal in either half.

Hashtag currently sit second in the league, four points behind Portsmouth, and will be eager to close the gap on the title contenders as well as extend their points margin from third-placed Rugby Borough. The Tags come into this fixture off the back of a 2-0 win against Billericay earlier in the week whilst the Greens have had the opportunity to put their full focus into this Sunday’s match.

“We know it’s going to be another tough game this weekend,” said Perks, looking ahead to his side's return to The Mill. “Hashtag are flying at the moment, but I don’t think they’re the toughest side we’ve played this season. We proved in our previous game against them that we could cause them trouble, but we were unable to reward ourselves with a goal or two to tie things up at a minimum.

“We’ve also proven ourselves against tough opposition multiple times this season so hopefully we can go into this match and have that belief in ourselves to come away with a positive result.

“Being back at The Mill is also another huge positive, especially after the last performance we had there. We always seem to perform better on grass pitches and, after the attendance we had their last time, hopefully we can give the fans another performance to be proud of.”

The game will be held at The Mill, Torpoint. Kick-off is at 2pm, tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for concessions while Under-16s have free entry. If you cannot make it to the game, then updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
