Argyle Women return to The Mill in Torpoint, this Sunday where they will take on fourth-placed Rugby Borough in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

Ryan Perks’ side will be looking to continue their positive form from last Sunday, where the Greens twice came from behind against Milton Keynes Dons thanks to a hat-trick from Ellie Sara and a goal from Jade Berrow.

"It was a very competitive game last Sunday," said Perks. “We executed the gameplan as well as possible in tricky conditions and I’m pleased with the individual performances as well as the overall team performance after a long journey up country.

"We always seem to kick on in the second half of the season and we’ve proved that with the performances we’ve put in over the last few weeks. We’ve got a young squad, and at the start of the season had lots of changes. With the small amount of contact time we have with them, it’s taken time for them to grasp how we want them to play, but you can see that it’s began to click over the last few months, and I’m pleased of where it’s taken us.”

Argyle’s return to The Mill sees Lee Burch’s Rugby Borough make the 200-mile trip to Torpoint Athletic's ground following a positive period of performances in the league. Having conceded three goals across their last five league matches, whilst scoring nine, Rugby have been able to build a gap of 11 points from the Greens, who currently sit seventh.

“Rugby are a very good side,” said Perks. “They haven’t lost many games, and don’t concede many goals, so it’s not going to be an easy game. They’re relentless, and press with intensity, but having MK was a perfect game to build into this match as they play into a similar shape and style. We got the result against MK and they beat Rugby earlier in the season, so hopefully we can try to replicate that this Sunday.”

The game will be held at The Mill, Torpoint. Kick-off is at 2pm, tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for concessions while Under-16s have free entry. If you cannot make it to the game, then updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
