A total of £2,928 has been raised through ticket sales and sponsorship from Argyle Women’s fixture against Torquay United in support of former Pilgrims player Roxy Thomas, who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
The two clubs came together at Home Park on Sunday for the FA Women’s National League Cup fixture, with all ticket revenue from the game donated to Roxy’s fundraising campaign.
Before kick-off, both sets of players, staff and fans came together to show their support for the former Argyle, and current Torquay defender.
The match itself saw Argyle claim a 1-0 victory, with 1,002 spectators watching on and joining forces to support one of their own.
The fixture was sponsored by PASOTI, whose contribution formed part of the total amount raised from the day.
Argyle Executive Lead for Women’s Football, Christian Kent, said: “It was fantastic to see the Argyle and Torquay communities come together to support Roxy and her family.
“The amount raised is a brilliant reflection of the generosity of everyone who attended the game, as well as our sponsors, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played their part in making the day such a special occasion.
“Roxy remains very much in our thoughts here at Argyle, and we wish her all the very best as she continues her treatment.”
