Argyle Women continued their glorious cup form as they beat London Seaward 4-0 away from home in the FA Women's National League Cup.

An early goal from midfielder Georgia Wilson gave the Greens an early lead, and she went on to secure her brace before the half ended. Argyle continued their goal-scoring trend into the second half with Kaitlyn Morgan-Hemmens and Amber Pollock rounding out the scoreline. London Seaward challenged keeper Jasmine Read on multiple occasions, but the Argyle defence secured their second clean sheet in a row away from home.

Argyle attacked from the moment the referee's whistle blew. Morgan-Hemmens came close in the first minute after bursting through London Seaward's back line, but goalkeeper Alicia Garwood was quick off her mark and cleared the danger. Wilson challenged the Anchors’ defence minutes later and scored Argyle's first goal after a tidy bit of footwork gave her the platform to place the shot into the top corner of the net.

Some 16 minutes later Wilson netted her second of the match after Charlotte Whitmore's run through Seaward's defence forced Garwood to come out and clear. The clearance ricocheted off the forward's leg towards Wilson who drove the ball into the net from range.

Both sides battled for dominance after Argyle's second goal, with each keeper being tested from range before the first half ran out.

The second half saw another early goal for the visiting Greens, with a slight bit of fortune. Morgan-Hemmens cross veered goalward and floated into the top corner of the net.

Short-range efforts were the closest the Anchors came to scoring their first of the match but Read kept the ball out of harm’s way with a double save that left Seaward players and fans frustrated alike.

With 11 minutes left on the referee's watch Argyle struck the final blow of the match. Substitute Pollock scored the fourth and final goal of the game thanks to a well-placed cross from Beth Ireland, which Pollock tucked away in the bottom corner.

Pollock almost netted her second with seconds left of the match after a Panagiota Papaioannou pass found winger Katie Dickson. Dickson’s cross flew towards the near post looking for Pollock’s diving header, but the chance was just out of reach for the pacey forward who sadly couldn’t grab her brace.

Argyle now advance into the second round of the FAWNL Cup and will take on Cardiff City LFC at Manadon Sports Hub on Sunday, 18 December.
