Schumacher and Whittaker Receive Award Nominations

Argyle have received recognition for a superb month of September with two nominations from League One sponsors Sky Bet.

Steven Schumacher is nominated for Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month, while Morgan Whittaker receives a nod for Player of the Month.

Schumacher is listed along with Shrewsbury Town boss Steve Cotterill, Barnsley’s Michael Duff and Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt. Morgan’s rivals for the award are Jack Diamond, on loan at Lincoln City from Sunderland; Wycombe Wanderers attacker Anis Mehmeti; and midfielder Marlon Pack of Portsmouth.

Argyle played four times in September, winning three and drawing one, with only Portsmouth’s injury-time equaliser in a 2-2 preventing a spectacular 100% month.

September began with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory at Derby County, before a 1-0 home win against Oxford United ten days later. After the draw at Fratton Park, The Pilgrims concluded the month with a 2-1 win against Ipswich Town, live on Sky Sports, which sent Argyle to the top of the division.

Whittaker scored in three of those four games, getting the first goal at Derby as the comeback began, and scoring the winners against Oxford and Ipswich. On top of that, he provided an assist for Niall Ennis’s goal against Pompey.

The winners of the awards will be announced on Friday, 7 October.
