Wes Harding signs for Argyle

Wes Harding signing his contract

Wes Harding has returned to Argyle, this time on a permanent basis.

The 29-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan with the Greens, playing 15 times as Argyle finished the campaign strongly.

Now, following the expiry of his current deal at Millwall, on 1 July, he will become a Pilgrim, signing a two-year deal.

Wes will also formally become Argyle vice-captain, in support of club captain Joe Edwards.

Leicester-born Wes came through at Birmingham City, and spent four seasons with Blues in the Championship before moving Rotherham in 2020. A regular with the Millers for three seasons, playing 140 games, he then moved on to Millwall in 2023.

"We are thrilled to bring Wes to the football club on a permanent basis,” said Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley. “He brings an abundance of experience, quality and leadership that we all saw during the second half of the season, helping the team improve significantly.

"We value what Wes will bring both on and off the pitch, which is one of the reasons we have named him as the club’s vice-captain.”

Derek Adams, Argyle Director of Football, said: “It is very pleasing to have another player signed up so early in the summer, and it is someone we are very familiar with, from his time with us on loan.

"We all saw what Wes brought us on the field at the end of last season, when we finished so strongly, and Tom’s decision to make him vice-captain shows how much he is valued in the dressing room as well.”

The signing is subject to EFL approval. Wes will be sponsored by ND Installations SW Ltd.
