West Cornwall Elite Coaching Hub Launches
Following the successful launch of the Argyle Academy Elite Coaching Hub in Bodmin earlier this year, we are delighted to announce that its sister site, based in Penryn, will be formally launched in February.
The Pilgrims' twin satellite sites in Cornwall have been in operation since September, with Callywith College serving talented youngsters in the east of the county, and Penryn College offering access to Argyle coaching and development in the west of Cornwall.
The new-look Cornwall Player Pathway, responsible for bringing through players like Luke Jephcott in recent years, is just one pillar of Argyle’s vision for developing Cornwall, and that also includes greater support and professional development opportunities for grass-roots coaches, in partnership with Cornwall FA as part of their Coach Development Programme.
The first of these continuous professional development (CPD) events for coaches based in the west of Cornwall will occur on Tuesday, 1 February, with a host of the Pilgrims’ senior coaches travelling down to Penryn for the event.
First-Team Coach Kevin Nancekivell will be joined by Academy Head of Coaching Lee Hodge, Professional Development Phase Coach Jamie Lowry, and the Greens’ Head of Cornwall Recruitment and Development Paul Rowe to deliver a hands-on session with regional coaches.
As part of the club’s commitment to Cornish football, the first 50 coaches to book and attend the event will be provided with two free tickets to attend the Pilgrims’ Sky Bet League One fixture against Cheltenham Town on Saturday, 5 February.
The event is free for coaches in Cornwall and those in attendance will receive two FA accredited CPD hours against their coaching record.
Booking is now open, and tickets are assigned on first-come, first-served basis.
