On Friday, striker Will Evans became Argyle’s seventh summer signing, arriving from fellow Sky Bet League One side, Mansfield Town.
The 29-year-old has notched 50 times across the past three seasons and believes now is the right time to make the move to Devon, in order to sign for the Greens.
“I’m over the moon to be fair,” Evans told Argyle TV. “Where I’ve come from is not just down the road so a lot of commitment needs to go into a move this big.
“When a club as big as Argyle come in, it’s hard to turn down. From conversations I’ve had and everything I’ve gone through today, it already feels like home. It feels like a really positive move for me.
“All my life I’ve lived five to six hours away from this place and yet I still know how much history and heritage that the club holds.
“The green shirt is always something that stands out, it’s quite iconic I’d say. It (Argyle) still seems to be a sleeping giant.
“Coming down yesterday and seeing what the place is about, seeing all the Argyle shirts around the place and then coming to the ground today, which I’ve never actually been too before, it all makes sense.”
Evans is proven goalscorer, having netted against Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United in the past years.
When asked what the Green Army can expect to see from him in an Argyle shirt, he spoke of his desire and work rate, as well as his ability to help the team win.
He said: “They (Tom Cleverley & Derek Adams) just want me to bring my best game. They’ve talked about how I will fit in and how it’s going to propel me, the club, and everyone in the team hopefully.
“It’s not like coming in here and asking me to do something I don’t already do, it’s going off what I’ve previously produced at other clubs and getting the best out of me which ultimately helps the team.
“It’s playing on-the-shoulder, it’s playing in behind, it’s making opposition defenders feel uncomfortable, it’s putting the ball in the back of the net, it’s being a nuisance.
“That’s what I want to do, that’s why I’ve come down here. I’m here to push the team and club as far as I can, from the conversations I’ve had I really think I can do that.
“One thing I will never let anyone do is question me about my commitment and how much I want to win and the hard work I will do for the team.
“Whatever shirt I put on I give 100%, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing at Argyle.”
The Welshman arrives in PL2 understanding the significance of his first test, the Devon Derby. This appears to be a challenge Evans is eager to rise too.
“If you ask any player at any level, nobody really likes pre-season,” said Evans. “The graft and everything is something that has to be done. It’s all about the real stuff.
“It’s happened a little bit later than I’d have wanted it to be, with it being such a big move.
“What a better way to start than a Devon Derby, I’m absolutely buzzing, I can’t wait.”
