Hartridge is primarily a central defender, but has also played at left-back, during a career that began at Exeter City. 

Devon-born, and raised in Totnes, Alex came through the ranks at Exeter, spending several loans spells with Truro City and Bath City, before truly breaking into the Grecians’ first team in 2020/21. 

Alex played just over 150 games for Exeter, before leaving for Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2024. He played just 14 times, mostly cup games, before returning to St James Park on loan for the rest of the season, and once again playing regularly in red and white. 

In 2025, Hartridge signed a one-year deal at Burton Albion, and played 42 games for the Brewers, 38 in the league, scoring three goals.
