The Game
Leeds United v Argyle. Elland Road. Saturday, 11 November. 3pm. Sky Bet Championship.

The Opposition
Leeds were relegated from the Premier League last season, but have made a strong start to their attempt an instant return to the top flight. After 15 games, they are third in the table, with eight wins, four draws and three defeats. All of their losses have come on the road, where they fallen to Birmingham City, Southampton and Stoke City.

At home, Leeds are unbeaten, having drawn their first three league games at Elland Road, then won their last four, against Watford, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town. Most recently, they travelled to league leaders Leicester City, and won 1-0 with a goal from Georginio Rutter.

The Gaffer
Daniel Farke began his managerial career at SV Lippstadt, a club he played for during his playing career. He lifted Lippstadt from the sixth tier of German football to the fourth, and eventually took the job as the manager of Borussia Dortmund's second team.

Daniel Farke

In 2017, he joined Norwich City as manager, in the Championship, and won the second-tier title in his second season at Carrow Road. They were relegated straight away, but the following season topped the Championship once again. However, after a poor start, Farke was dismissed.

After leaving Norwich, he signed a deal to take over at Krasnodar in Russia, but left before a game was played, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last season, with Borussia Monchengladbach, Farke led the side to a mid-table finish, and was sacked in the summer.

The Squad
Crysensio Summerville, 22, is Leeds' top goalscorer this season, with six goals from ten starts and two substitute appearances. The Dutchman began his career with Feyenoord but, although he had loan spells with Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag, left without playing for Feyenoord's first team.

Summerville joined Leeds in the summer of 2020, but had his breakthrough season in 2022/23, playing 28 times in the Premier League, scoring four times.

Three players are ever-present for Leeds in the league this season: Ethan Ampadu, Pascal Struijk and Illan Meslier.

Goalkeeper Meslier, a French former Under-21 international, began his career at Lorient, and first joined Leeds on loan in 2019/20. He went on to sign permanently, and has now played for the Yorkshire side 130 times.

Ampadu (pictured below), whose father Kwame played for Argyle seven times in 1990, began his career at Exeter City, making his debut aged 15 and signed for Chelsea aged 16. He had loans to Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia, then joined Leeds in the summer of 2023. He has 47 caps for Wales, and is still only 23 years old.

Dutch central defender Struijk has starred for Leeds this season, but will miss Saturday's clash after undergoing a hernia operation.
