Argyle 7 Nike Academy 0

A STRONG Argyle XI beat the Nike Academy team 7-0 at Home Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Argentinean midfielder Andres Gurrieri, pictured above, netted a hat-trick in the friendly game, with striker Rhys Griffiths scoring twice, and Jamie Richards and Luke Young also netting.

The match offered new manager John Sheridan the chance to run the rule over those first-team squad members who did not take part in Saturday’s League 2 victory over Morecambe.

One player who was unavailable to the Pilgrims is forward Warren Feeney, who is still on crutches following a foot injury sustained in the opening minutes of the Morecambe game.

However, John was heartened by initial reports that suggest Feeno’s injury is not as bad as at first feared.

He said: “It’s looking as though he may miss six to eight weeks when we thought he might be out for the season.

“Hopefully, he will get it sorted out and he will be back to play his part towards the end of the season.”
