Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has moved to offer five players new deals as the Pilgrims look to build on their first campaign back in Sky Bet League One.
Player of the season Joe Edwards is one of three senior professionals to be offered new contracts at Home Park, alongside midfield duo Danny Mayor and Conor Grant.
Meanwhile, first-year professional Ollie Tomlinson and fellow Academy graduate Ryan Law, who both evidenced their exciting potential in the closing weeks of the 20/21 campaign, have also been offered terms.
Goalkeeper Luke McCormick, who made his 350th Argyle appearance at the weekend against Gillingham, has been offered an alternative role at Home Park.
The club currently has eight professionals under contract heading into the 21/22 season (Mike Cooper, Luke Jephcott, Adam Randell, Ryan Hardie, George Cooper, Panutche Camara, Niall Ennis and Brandon Pursall).
2019/20 promotion-winning trio Will Aimson, Byron Moore and Scott Wootton (who spent the second half of 20/21 on-loan at Wigan Athletic) will depart the club upon expiry of their contracts, while Jarvis Cleal, Rubin Wilson, Klaidi Lolos, Frank Nouble, Lewis Macleod, Ben Reeves and Jack Ruddy have also been released.
Loan players Kelland Watts, Sam Woods, Adam Lewis, Tyrese Fornah and Jerome Opoku will return to their parent clubs upon expiry of their loan deals, while club captain Gary Sawyer will take up a new role as Club Ambassador, having been forced to retire from playing due to injury.
With COVID-19 hindering development of players at Academy level, the club has taken up the option to extend the scholarship of three Academy prospects – Alfie Wotton, Finley Craske and Rhys Shirley – for another year. This option had already been exercised for Ethan Mitchell, whose late addition to the Academy means that his scholarship will also run for one more season.
We thank all departing Pilgrims for making positive contributions to the culture and success of the club during their time at Home Park, and we wish them nothing but the very best for the future.
