Following a robust tendering process, we are delighted to welcome Great Annual Savings (GAS) to Argyle as our official Energy Partner for the next two seasons.

Rated first in the United Kingdom by Trustpilot for cost reduction, GAS will support Argyle’s public commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by providing only sustainable energy – sourced from solar, wind, or hydro – for the duration of the partnership, resulting in an immediate reduction of energy-related carbon emissions by 27%.

What’s more,  as part of the agreement, an energy monitoring system has been implemented throughout Home Park, providing the club with the ability to track consumption at half-hourly intervals. Crucially, the system provides staff at Argyle the data required to ensure that our operations are  energy efficient as possible, as well as forecast future use.

This welcome development follows a swathe of changes to the club’s relationship with climate in recent months, with our first ever Environmental Plan published on World Earth Day back in April 2022.

As part of this commitment, new low-energy LED lighting systems will be installed throughout the club, alongside an additional 225 solar panels and an innovative rainwater harvesting system atop the Mayflower Grandstand.

Christian Kent, Argyle’s Head of Venue, said: “We are very pleased to have selected GAS  to be our Energy Partner, who share our motivation to reach net zero.

“As part of our Environmental Plan, we have worked hard with GAS to ensure all of our energy comes from renewable sources to reduce our carbon footprint. I look forward to working with them in the coming years to enable the club to become more energy efficient.”

GAS has a wealth of experience in professional sports, and is perhaps best known in football circles for serving as Sunderland AFC’s principal partner between 2020/22. Their inclination to partner with the club underpins the growing attraction of the being associated with Argyle.

James Greenacre, Head of Commercial Operations at Home Park, said: “I am very excited to welcome GAS to the club as our Energy Partner, and I am very impressed with the immediate progress they have been able to make in supporting our net zero ambitions.

“From a commercial perspective, working with such a well-known and highly-regarded company is a fantastic boost for the club, and I can’t wait to see how the partnership evolves over the next couple of years.”

In addition to providing energy for Argyle, GAS will also sponsor the Argyle under-8 Academy side, and supporters can expect to see GAS branding in the match-day programme and on Home Park’s soon-to-be-installed big screen.

Phil Andrew, Group Sales Director at GAS, said: “We are tremendously excited to announce our new partnership with Plymouth Argyle, an iconic club steeped in history.”

“GAS has proven itself to be a valuable partner to sports clubs and their business affiliates throughout the UK and Ireland, primarily through reductions in utilities costs and the creation of additional revenue streams via our partnership programme.

“In Argyle, we have found a partner who share our passion for the environment and the generation of renewable energy sources. Huge progress has been made already and we can’t wait to move forward with the journey towards net zero for the club.”

To celebrate the announcement of the new partnership, GAS will be launching competitions across their social media platforms for members of the Green Army in the coming days.
