After a long 18 months, we are delighted to welcome the Green Army back to Home Park for the upcoming season.

As outlined by the prime minister’s announcement on Monday, 12 June, all seating restrictions have been lifted for the 21/22 campaign, and the prospect of sharing the Theatre of Greens with our supporters after such a difficult 18 months is tremendously exciting.

Understandably, supporters may have concerns or queries regarding the match-day experience given the current landscape, and we are keen to reassure fans that we will continue to place welfare of our supporters, players, and staff at the centre of our thinking at Home Park.

While face coverings are no longer mandatory at events such as football matches, club staff across departments will continue to wear them for the duration of match-day, starting from the visit of Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City for a pre-season friendly.

Our stewarding and safety team will be asked to return negative lateral flow tests before arriving at Home Park for duties, while double-vaccinated stewards will be prioritised for working our pre-season and early Sky Bet League One fixtures.

In addition, our safety team will operate in bubbles, ensuring we have coverage in the event that a positive COVID test requires members of our safety team to isolate and miss home fixtures. On the turnstiles, staff will either wear face coverings, or visors.

These are temporary measures, and we have taken the decision to operate this way in consultation with the local authority and Safety Advisory Group. At present, COVID-19 infection rates are higher in Plymouth than the national average, and the health and wellbeing of everyone in attendance remains of utmost importance.   

Despite the changes to government guidance on coronavirus, we will continue to encourage all supporters in attendance to wear a face covering while traversing through turnstiles, concourses and enclosed spaces. These can be removed once in the stadium bowl and seated.

While this is not a condition of entry, we ask those attending the stadium to consider the health of fellow supporters, as well as Argyle staff, all of whom will be wearing face coverings for supporters’ benefit, when deciding whether or not to comply with this request. As per government guidance, supporters are reminded to try and remain in their social bubbles wherever possible.

We would also ask all supporters to consider taking a COVID-19 lateral flow test before attending Home Park – these can be ordered online here. Again, while this is not a condition of entry, club staff are committed to undertaking regular tests to ensure that we play our part in making Argyle matches as safe an environment as possible for our supporters. We ask that our fans contribute to this effort.

Concession kiosks will be open, serving a range of food and beverages. You will notice on your visit that queuing lanes are now laid out for concession stands, please use them. Meanwhile, toilet facilities will continue to operate with a one-way system. In order to avoid large queues at peak times (e.g half-time), we advise supporters to plan ahead for toilet breaks, using facilities when they are likely to be less busy.

The Argyle Superstore will take the same approach, with retail staff wearing face coverings. However, the capacity of the Superstore will be raised to a maximum of 30 supporters at any one time.

Supporters are allocated specific turnstiles to support orderly and safe entry into Home Park – we ask that you attend the turnstile allocated on your ticket, and that you arrive in plenty of time.

We are keen to reiterate that the above considerations are not conditions of entry, and will not be enforced by our match-day operations team. However, we do consider it our duty to provide the safest possible environment for supporters returning to watch Argyle, and we ask supporters to contribute towards this goal by following guidance.
