Argyle’s Sky Bet League One match against Rotherham United on Saturday, 13 December, has been selected as the ninth dedicated fixture for Project 35, our award-winning social impact project in partnership with Ginsters.
The time has come, as we call out to the Green Army and our communities to bring items of in-date, non-perishable food, and hygiene products to Home Park for the latest dedicated fixture. Donations will support those most vulnerable in the community through the wider food bank network and our Manadon Food Larder.
Support for Project 35 since its inception has been incredible, but this time of year calls for even more community spirit. The Christmas period can be particularly challenging for many people, with financial and emotional pressures that can continue well into the new year. Your donations will help provide food and hygiene products to those facing hardships, as well as raising awareness of these social needs.
From midday until kick-off at 3pm, Argyle Community Trust will be outside the Babcock Devonport End in the pink Project 35 gazebo welcoming donations. Pledge 35 volunteers, Ginsters staff, and Trust staff will be on hand to chat more about the wider aims of the project and assist with collections.
The launch of the dedicated game comes ahead of some exciting developments at the Hub at Foulston Park, the Trust’s new state-of-the-art community facility in the heart of Devonport. Ginsters, long-time supporters of Argyle and advocates for the community work of the Trust, have committed further support and will become the new sponsor of the community café. Further details are to follow, but the café will be rebranded and focus even more on community support.
Special initiatives are being implemented including a ‘pay-it-forward’ scheme allowing customers to gift food and drink to individuals or families who may need support. Other initiatives will see Ginsters and the Trust collaborate on a series of community events to mark the occasion and to support Ginsters’ ambitious milestone of donating 250,000 meals to those in need.
The café will also act as a food donation point to support the fan appeals for those unable to attend the games. Look out for the big pink Project 35 collection station located in the café.
The last dedicated game was a huge success with your generous donations totalling 1.4 tonnes of produce and £1,900 in funds, allowing us to restock the community larder which provides vital support every Friday morning.
Donations can be made in physical form or through the dedicated JustGiving page.
