Vacancy | Head of Academy Player Care

Our proactive football Academy is looking to recruit a full-time Head of Player Care. This is a key role within the Academy with the main focus to support the Academy players with their general wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with the Academy Manager, the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Operations to provide support to all registered Academy players and trialists.

The successful candidate will develop and support our Academy players and parents throughout their Academy journey. You will also be expected to develop and implement our induction and transition strategy supporting our players when joining the club, leaving the club or transitioning between phases. This will include the development of our Academy Life Skills programme, facilitating any Academy tours or tournaments and receiving feedback from Players and Parents through our Academy Voice and Forums.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in supporting players with career advice and educational pathways. They will be responsible for providing a record of Academy achievements, supporting players when they leave the Academy and setting up Academy alumni events. You will also be expected to support the safeguarding committee with any aspects linking with player care, for example, to co-ordinate and monitor our Academy players staying with host families.

Applicants must have a strong work ethic, the ability to work flexibly and independently, and have a working knowledge of education, welfare, mental health and player care. Candidates would be expected to enrol on the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and hold an in-date FA Safeguarding qualification. We are also looking for experience within player care and player development.

This role involves the supervision of and working with children and young people. As the role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the applicant must disclose all previous convictions including spent convictions.
